Far Cry 2 is set in 2008, following the story of a completely new set of characters, separate from its predecessor, although Ubisoft had originally marketed FC2 to be a direct sequel. There's enough in common between everything post FC2 that if you REALLY like one, then you'll get solid enjoyment out of the others.Following the very first installment, each main-series title has been set in the same year as the games' release. If you still want more, I'd do FC4 then FC5.
I thought I'd be lukewarm to another FC game at this point (sorry but FC5 was just sorta meh), but I'm actually really glad I got into this one.įor recommendations, I'd go with FC3 + FC3: Blood Dragon (although tbh I'm really hoping they remaster this entire game/xpac at some point). FC6 only has a bit of that with the gear. It always felt like, OK, I got all this stuff but really my playstyle didn't change much since like 40% into the game. One of the awkward things with all FC games is slowly conquering the entire map to build up your skills and gear only to have like 1 or 2 things left in the game to do before you beat it. I did think I'd dislike the lack of the skill-tree system, but in the end I think I liked it better without it. A lot of the side quests are really just her own sort of deal that actually have substance besides clearing a marker off the map. It just feels like they really thought about giving MC some character beyond just going along with whatever the NPCs/plot have to offer. I love it when a song comes on the radio that she knows and starts singing along to. That said, Dani is just too awesome in FC6. Playing FC3 when it came out, that was probably a lot more mind blowing than FC6 just because there was some stuff in there that really no other game had done before. Someone desperately clawing for any good in his life, that he will do very brave things in pursuit of keeping them.
Like, part of the reason Paolo hits so close to home for me is that from moment one, the story shows who he is as a person.
